A Life With Animals

Charlotte and Beowulf at the Mid-Central Regional.

Meet Charlotte Hoberg, a lifelong animal lover who has never lived without pets in the house. From a young age, Charlotte was responsible for training not only their own pets, but also neighborhood dogs and horses. This passion for training led to a job as a teenager training ponies and working with children at a local stable and camp.

In college, Charlotte worked at several horse stables, dog daycare, and local pet shops. It was during this time that she rescued her first dog as an adult, Pax. Although she had high hopes for Pax, it became evident that he had special behavioral needs. Through extensive research, reaching out to experts in the field, and training daily on her own, Charlotte became obsessed with everything dog training. Pax's behavioral needs inspired her to become the trainer she is today.

Thanks to her time, patience, and consistency, Pax was able to achieve titles in AKC Obedience, Rally, and all three Canine Good Citizen titles. Living with Pax made Charlotte want to help other people with their own dogs, to bring out the best in their beloved companions. It also inspired her to aim higher with her own aspirations, which led her to the sport of Schutzhund.

With her love for the sport's focus on precision, attention to detail, and rigorous training requirements, Charlotte purchased her first purpose-bred German Shepherd, Beo, followed by Ghibli, and finally Alchemy. Since then, She has worked tirelessly towards her own training and competition goals.

Despite her affinity for the German Shepherd Dog breed, Charlotte has extensive experience training dogs of all breeds, and is dedicated to helping pet owners build a strong bond with their furry companions and achieve their training goals.

“Ghibli”

Little Ghibli is named after Studio Ghibli, a little homage to my art degree and background. Ghibli is hilarious, frenetic, and so incredibly smart. She is such a joy to have around and I am excited to see where our journey takes us!

“Al”

Alchemy, lovingly referred to as “Al”, is as sweet natured as she is beautiful. She was not planned, but she has been so loved since arriving here!

“Pax”

Pax is my “All American Dog” and partner in crime. In the time we have been together, he has taught me much more about patience, kindness, and understanding than any book or teacher ever could.

“Beo”

Beo was my first German Shepherd and purpose-bred dog and is in training for Schutzhund. Beo is a high strung, energetic, and driven dog and enjoys nothing more than training and playing. Beo’s favorite spot is anywhere close to mom, and is the definition of a Velcro dog. He had to overcome some pretty intense dog reactivity when he was younger, but you will often see him standing in as my neutral dog during training sessions. He has come such a long way.
