Board and Train

At Sit ‘n Stay, we believe dogs are members of the family. When your pup comes to stay with us, they will be treated like one of our own.

We only take on a few training dogs at a time so that they get personalized care and attention while they are here. They will live in the home and go on field trips and play-dates throughout the week.

LEASH REACTIVITY & BEHAVIOR MODIFICATOIN:

Minimum 3 Week Stay: During your pup’s stay, we will work on building his confidence and creating a new, positive association to their triggers. Changing their mindset is so important in order to see real change. Along with working on their emotional reactions to things, I will begin to rebuild alternative responses to their triggers, like looking at their handler, sitting, or turning away instead of barking and lunging. Behavior modification is a process, and every dog is an individual so each dog’s timeline might slightly differ from another and that is okay.

Booking requests can be made via email below. Please make sure to note specific dates your dog will need care in your request. We will be in touch regarding your requested dates.

Boarding Dogs Must Be:

  • Up to date on vaccinations. DHLPP and Rabies are required for stay. Bordatella and Canine Influenza are recommended.

  • Comfortable crating without separation distress or anxiety. For safety, our dogs stay in kennels or crates when they are not being directly supervised. This ensures that they have adequate decompression time between training and activities, as well as keeps them and the other residents of the home safe and secure.

  • Able to complete an acclimation stay prior to their boarding dates. To ensure that they are a good fit, we schedule acclimation stays for any new boarders. This overnight stay will help confirm that your pup will be comfortable in our accommodations and that we will be able to meet your needs. Successful acclimation stay costs can be put towards the deposit for a longer stay. Cost: $150 USD

During Their Stay, They Will:

  • Receive multiple training sessions per day. Depending on the goals for your dog, as well as their endurance for training, training may be separated into more frequent, shorter sessions, or longer, more in depth training sessions.

  • Go on hikes, field trips, training excursions, playdates (if appropriate), and other adventures. We treat your dogs like part of the family! That means they’ll go on hikes, attend day school, help out with training sessions or classes, go to the store or on play dates…whatever they might enjoy!

  • Be provided with a written training plan when they return home. Your dog’s training plan will be edited and reviewed throughout their stay on their personal website. The full, final copy will be uploaded when they come home and will include recommendations for a training plan beyond the follow up sessions below (if applicable).

  • Have the opportunity to schedule follow up sessions to transfer skills to their home environment. Transition of skills is just as important as the initial learning! We encourage you to schedule follow up sessions when your dog returns home so we can ensure their skills carry over to their daily life at home! For stays of a week or more, your stay will include a virtual handoff session after your stay, and an in-person or virtual coaching session.
